DO YOU BELIEVE THAT THE BIBLE IS THE WORD OF GOD?
Does it matter to us if we believe in the word of God or Not? How can we live a fruitful life if we do not believe in the bible as a word of GOD? Why is it important for us to believe that the bible as the word of GOD.
The starting point is to acknowledge that the Bible is the infallible Word of God otherwise everything Christians believe would be based on human doctrines without this foundational belief of truth.
The Bible itself allows itself to be tested for truth (Acts 8: Berean Christians tested the truth that Paul was telling them). Even though in this context they believed the Bible as the Word of God and were just testing authenticity of what they were being told. The main fact it says examine the scripture and come let us examine the scripture
Lets refer to :
2 Timothy 3:16 – 17 ‘All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable or doctrine for reproof, for correction, for instruction.
As we get to know God better and study scripture more, we gain greater insight into the meaning of the Word of God at any point. The scripture reflects the attributes of God, His omnipresence, being everywhere and truthful. The scripture is measured by God’s own standard not our own modern standard but by truth.
2 What can happen to us if we ignore the truth about the word the bible being the word of God
Since the Bible is the Word of God and is a divine revelation as substantiated by itself, ignorance of its truth will definitely affect negatively the spiritual growth of anybody who does the ignorance. Without the Bible, how would we know the wisdom we need to live in this earth, where would we get the guide and the statutes to live by. Our own intellect is incapable of solving the obstacles we encounter in our path.
Now that we know the truth: what can we do not to miss the benefit of the word of GOD that is made available to us
We need to seek God’s forgiveness for counting His Word as a strange thing (Hosea 8:12 ‘I have written to him the great things of My law, but they were counted as a strange thing
The Word of God is final Court of Appeal. It is the ultimate standard for regulating conduct. It is a sure foundation for our faith.
God wants to communicate directly with all His children through the activity of the Holy Spirit who illuminates the Word. We cannot argue anyone into the kingdom. We are to witness with our words and lives and know that the Holy Spirit is the one to bring a person to salvation.
God created us and in the past was speaking to His people through the Holy Spirit , talking to people through prophets (1 Chronicles 17:4 – ‘Go and tell my servant David, this is what the Lord has declared: You are not the one to build a house for Me to live in’) and in audio as we see in the case of Moses (Deuteronomy 31:14; Deuteronomy 1:6). God also used angels to visit His people (Luke 1:26 – God sent Gabriel to Mary to tell her that she was to give birth to Jesus).
God never just left His creation alone to fend for itself. When He sent His Son Jesus to die for our sins and reconcile us with Him, He also promised us the gift of the Holy Spirit.
We are blessed to have a daily guide that will help us live accountable lives. We always have a point of reference in our search for the truth in this world. As believers, the truth is our salvation – Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. This Saviour was prophesied years before He came to live as flesh on earth. God Himself stepped down and brought salvation and redemption to us. Isaiah 60:21 says when we accept Him as our Saviour, He promises that His spirit will not leave us and His words will be on our lips and on the lips of our children and children’s children forever.
His Word is capable of helping us to find the truth, repent of our sins and be baptised in the Holy Spirit and receive the spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:7-11) and live a life that is endowed with the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 6:22).
If we are unwilling to commit ourselves to the teaching of the Bible as the Word of God, we are already mistrusting the teaching or even disbelieving it. We need to believe the self testimony of scripture.
We know that Jesus also spoke only what He heard from His Father (John 7:16). John 8:26-29. John 14:10. Jesus was empowered and inspired by the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17; Luke 4:1).
Let us follow in the footsteps of our King and listen to the scriptures.
